Million Years

Nico Vega

Yesterday I had one of those moments where iTunes had deleted a track and I could hear the song in the back of my head but, couldn’t for the life of me remember the name of the band or the name of the song. An epic “google” search followed which eventually led me to the band and track I was looking for, Nico Vega and their track Beast. In hind sight I should have just googled the song lyrics. Ultimately this led to me picking up their whole album and giving it a good listen to. Promptly I was blown away by this track. This track is definitely going on my gym playlist as the opening just pumps me up. Massive gains in squats ensue. Na Na Na Na.

I stumbled upon this track the other day and I had never heard of the band Menomena before. My reaction was, why haven’t I heard of these guys before, this track is friggin awesome. There is just too much music in the world was my conclusion. The awesomeness is simply overwhelming.

The manner in which the track builds is awesome. All I can say really, is turn up the volume because when the guitar riffs kick they are going to suck you in and take you on a journey of awesomeness.

I’m ashamed to say I had no knowledge of this South Africa band until a few weeks ago and immediately thought this track was awesome. For some reason it just makes me want to sing along. A couple of their other tracks are also pretty good. Their website is also extremely slick. When looking at the website they didn’t strike me as a South African band, and they don’t really sound like a South African band which is sort of why I think they may have some world-wide appeal. Or maybe my patriotism is deceiving me.

For me this was another SXSW 2010 showcase discovery. This is one helluva track and an excellent summer track. They seem to be picking up popularity in the US since Pitchfork picked this track in the top 100 tracks of 2009. Hopefully they get more recognition across the pond.

Really good track here. I don’t know much about these boys but I’m impressed with what I’ve heard of their album so far. Initially they reminded me of Phoenix but I’m not so sure about that comparison. They do remind me of a certain band but I can’t quite put my finger on it.

Buy their album or this track on Amazon.
